TL494 IC- Pulse Width Modulation Controller IC
The TL494 is a versatile pulse-width modulation (PWM) control device featuring two error amplifiers, an adjustable on-chip oscillator, a dead-time control (DTC) comparator, a pulse-steering flip-flop, a precise 5-V regulator, and output-control circuits. The error amplifiers support a common-mode voltage range from –0.3 V to VCC – 2 V. The DTC comparator incorporates a fixed offset, ensuring approximately 5% dead time. The on-chip oscillator can either be bypassed by connecting RT to the reference output and supplying a sawtooth signal to CT or used to synchronize common circuits in multi-rail power supplies.
The device’s uncommitted output transistors support both common-emitter and emitter-follower configurations, with output control allowing selection between push-pull or single-ended operation. During push-pull operation, the architecture prevents either output from pulsing twice. The TL494C is rated for operation within a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C.
