TMP36 Analog Temperature Sensor
Product Description
The TMP36 is a precision analog temperature sensor that provides an output voltage linearly proportional to the ambient temperature in degrees Celsius. It is easy to interface with microcontrollers and analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), making it suitable for a wide range of electronic applications.
The sensor operates from a low supply voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V and provides a linear temperature-to-voltage output with a scale factor of 10mV/°C. At 25°C, the typical output voltage is approximately 750mV.

How It Works
The TMP36 converts temperature into an analog output voltage. The output voltage changes by approximately 10mV for every 1°C change in temperature. This voltage can be measured using an analog input on an Arduino, ESP32, or other microcontroller with an ADC.
The temperature can then be calculated from the measured voltage using the TMP36 transfer function:
Temperature (°C) = (VOUT − 0.5V) × 100
For example, at approximately 25°C, the output voltage is around 0.75V.
Applications
- Temperature measurement.
- Arduino and ESP32 projects.
- Thermal monitoring systems.
- Over-temperature protection.
- Temperature control systems.
- Cooling and ventilation systems.
- Educational and electronic projects.
- Embedded and industrial applications.
Important Note
The TMP36 is an analog temperature sensor, not a digital sensor. The microcontroller must read the output voltage through an ADC and convert the measured voltage into a temperature value.
Always verify the pin configuration according to the exact TMP36 package and version being used, as pin arrangements may differ between package types.
