LM339N_Quad Comparator_339

The LM339 devices feature four independent voltage comparators designed to operate with a single power supply across a broad voltage range. They can also function with dual supplies, provided the voltage difference between the two supplies is between 2 V and 36 V, and the VCC is at least 1.5 V higher than the input common-mode voltage. The current consumption remains stable regardless of the supply voltage. Additionally, the open-collector outputs can be connected to other open-collector outputs to implement wired-AND configurations.
The LM339N supports supply voltages up to an absolute maximum of 36 V and is widely recognized for its reliability and versatility across numerous applications. This is attributed to its wide supply voltage range (2 V to 32 V), low quiescent current, and quick response time.
The open-drain output allows flexibility in defining the logic low voltage (VOL) and facilitates its use in AND logic configurations.
The comparator employs a PNP Darlington pair at the input, ensuring high gain, fast response, and minimal input bias current. The Darlington input stage restricts the input common-mode voltage range, enabling the device to operate accurately with differential input voltages from ground to (VCC – 1.5 V), or (VCC – 2 V) in colder temperatures.
The output stage comprises an open-collector NPN transistor that sinks current when the negative input voltage exceeds the positive input voltage and offset voltage. The output low voltage (VOL) is resistive and varies with the output current.
